What's the purpose in life?
We'll die anyway...

I think i live my life with almost no emotion or no interest. No there's not really anyone i want to be close with. Not even my family. The closer you get the more you fear of losing them.

Back to the question what's the purpose in life? I couldn't do my work properly from yesterday. Thinking what's all this for rushing school work and stuff what do i get from all these? Gonna die one day anyway. There's not really a reason to live for. Cried to sleep the other day because i miss my grandfather. Almost cried eating cake at grandma's as i sit on the bench he used to sit on looking at his photo..man i really don't want to grow old and forget him. Well i did wripe of those tears and went away so that no one see..it was a birthday celebration of my mum. and e next day was his birthday.

I had a fight with my sister 1 day before my birthday and i'm not gonna talk to her. i want to get done with school and leave this place.

wells ever since the last assessment i had...
i left lost...
totally dunno wad to do next coz there wasn't anything to do...
my mind was blank...

my grandma from my father side just pass away...
i've lived with her 17yrs of my life.
i have not been nice..
i've never thought i'll cry on her funeral..
we are always in arguements..
i'm always anoyed..
the best thing i could do was not to talk to her to prevent hurting her.

i knew it was coming.. since sat(6th dec) when i knew she was sent into the hospital. i didn't want to regret not seeing her one last time like how i regreted earlier this year for not visiting my gong gong(grandfather from mum side)tearing dat night because she's not a christian along with my father side of my family including my beloved grandfather..was wondering how he would be if she's gone. slept after 2hrs of crying.had a little comfort from ppl..

so i visited her on sunday..all seems ok..but e report wasn't out..damn NUH..that hospital sucks.. i heard she did press e bell for e nurse a number of times but was taken lightly.

she died with internal bleeding and she coughed blood and was no more. the reason she went into hospital was because of a fall and cannot shit..ya..
then they said there was a viirus in her blood and stuff gave her antibiotics already.. the nurse said the report will be out on monday. but it didnt..and then it was too late..and even e death report wasn't accurate.

the funeral/wake lasted for 5days..
did many things..the first "traditional funeral"(taoist?) at home. ya. it was at e void deck. the whole day dat day i couldn't eat well.. i had to go to sch to settle some stuff. and had lunch with ivan..was tearing when i was going to put the food in my mouth probably because of the grace that was said.before the meal. ya. maybe it was e first time i didn't much appetite other den after my operation earlier this year as well. it has been a horrible year maybe..

firstly, i went into the hospital and had my operation.
secondly, a aunty that i talked to the first time my life on chinese new year was in coma on valentine's and died before i plan to visit when i'm going for my check up of my wound from the operation.
thirdly, my gong gong has gone to heaven.
forth, the aunty's father gone as well.

then there were good stuff 2 of my sister's wedding.. and getting to know my uncles.

den now..

fifth, my ah ma's funeral.

wells at least most of it happened when i didn't need to be in school.

but i was very sad each day at the wake when i see my yeye with his eyes wet when he look at my grandmother's photo in the morning. ya and because i've never seen him cry before, for a man that hides his expression swallowing back his tears not to get anyone worried. i cired more seeing him like that but wouldn't want him to see me sad as well.

in that 5days i've seen a lot..
i've been doing ridiculous stuff, like folding the "gold-silver paper"(jing ying zi) burning them kneeling and stuff.
all was out of repect for those who are around. for those who do not know the true God.

as i was burning the paper i have been thinking...
about stuff...about why chinese behave like they really respect someone when the person is dead.

why do the whole family only appears at a funeral and not at a birthday celebration?

NAFA SPORTS DAY

dang.....i never participate...lol....and the weather was HOT!! and i wondered how people survived.... Imagine a HOT SUNNY DAY, you're having your SPORTS DAY and PEOPLE coming in JACKETS!! AND MAKE UP... excluding the fashion people that came for picinic...lol...

John was funny.. he was playing this game called Sumo Sumo okay they make people wear ridiculous Sumo costumes and fight lol...objective: get your opponent down! lol den he pin the person and said sorry -_- HAHA he's funny.... and Siva was like the champion in Gladiators..

me and Yi Xin just went ard the BOTTLE TREE PARK...and if u're wondering wad's a bottle tree u'll find out in the pictures..haahahahaha...oh and there's this tree that look like native african lol..go check the pictures..

well.. the whole day i was out lah from morning ard 7am...e sports day ended at 2 but i went off at 1.15 to go play badminton =D at cck with josiah, his friend wei bin and ivan..the rest never got to play with hahaha...and i was stinking from like sports day and didnt have clothes to change..ah..ivan and josiah said dun smell..but...i dunno lah... ya..had our dinner at kfc i was famished.. had 3piece chicken lol..stole ivan's food..well i exchanged a bigger portion i think..LOL.. anyway..ya wasnt really full till i ate e walnut paste...ya...den Jos want to play bowling..

so i just went along ivan meet us after his guitar lesson..think they played 3 rounds and josiah improved a lot...haha..his friend looks funny =x and he thinks i'm 13 -_-

Once, there was this man..
He had a wife, 3 sons, and two daughters.

The 3sons spent there life having fun and spending the man's money.

The older daughter was the most educated and was responsible for the family's need.
She is like the only one that is normal in the family.

When the sons are old enough to get married, the father made them marry thru match making.
Eldest son was married to a indonesian wife.
Second son not married but he's bringing his girlfriend in and out of the house
Youngest son married a china wife that gave him a daughter and going through some sort of depression.

Old in age he is in his 60s, sons in debt as they loan money from the bank to do business but they spent all the money they earn.

Now the man's wife just had a mild stroke.

The eldest son borrow money from loan shark..(dunno for wad)

and yes they are related to me..

anyway everything is gonna affect my family..so now mavis really has to work..at least to save up money for things need when school starts. ya lor... haiz..

Worship in spirit and truth: The problem with today’s deviant worship

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and today I felt led to search online for “unbiblical Christian songs” and this is what popped up. I am reading a verse in John and trying very hard to understand it, and while I don’t believe I’ve got it all together, this forum really spurred my thinking and reminded me a lot of all I’ve learnt. Please bear with me as I type out a long message which I think is important to those of you who sincerely are thinking about what is unbiblical worship:

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

To be honest I am still thinking about these verses a lot, and what it truly means, but this is what I understand so far: God is spirit, so we must worship Him in spirit, meaning we do not use worldly means (incense, sacrifices, etc) to worship Him, but rather to worship Him from our hearts, to worship from within; for we were made in God’s image. I won’t emphasize on the “spirit” aspect this time, as I am still trying to figure it out. But to worship in truth, this is what I understand.

First thing I need to do is define worship. It’s NOT only songs, as many of you already know; our actions, our lifestyle, everything we do can be an act of worship. Music, which is but one of the ways we express our worship and heartfelt thanks to God, must speak of what we know is the truth, not some abstract reality. That said, we cannot sing of what we do not know, nor cannot confirm. The danger of extrapolating (taking on verse and stretching it beyond what it says) has been the tool of the devil for far too long; why can’t we stick to the fundamental truths in the Bible?

As a Christian raised in a Lutheran church but flooded with contemporary Christian music in my daily life, and as a person convinced that God is not impressed by denominations or worship preferences, I have maintained that both hymns and contemporary songs could and should be used for worship of our Lord. I have learnt that personal convictions may sound good, and may be very well argued, but if it’s not based on SOLID scriptural foundations it is flawed and often leads to division (this is present throughout this whole forum discussion, as we can all see). I learnt something which some of you may know of, something that is close to my heart, being raised in a Lutheran church: Sola Scriptura. This means “Scripture alone”. This is one of the fundamental believes of the Reformation and the backbone of what we as Protestants today believe in. Scripture should and MUST be our only means of determining what is right and wrong. That said, these are certain things I am convinced of:

Psalm 144:9a “I will sing a new song to you, O God….”

New songs are not wrong. We are encouraged, in fact, to write a “new song to the Lord”; for it’s a way of expressing our heartfelt thanks to God. I cannot sing about God “saving a wretch like me” perhaps because I have not experienced it, but for some people it means everything. Similarly, today we may sing and thank God for freedom, something that Christians last time may not have been able to say. It is simply untrue to say we can only sing hymns, but neither do I think we should say hymns are bad; it’s about how relevant it is as our response of love to God.

2. Psalm 144:9b “ … on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you”

Electric guitars, pianos, drums are not evil. The Bible simply calls us to worship Him truthfully, in every way we can. Native Indians may worship with drums, village people may worship with Chinese instruments; they all are different means to worship the same God. Once upon a time the organ was seen as “evil” by some churches, as well as the drum…. If we truly wanted to follow the Bible, then why don’t we just use trumpets and harps, since they are definitely mentioned in the Bible? It’s not the instrument in our hands that matter, it’s the instrument inside us that counts: our heart…why are we doing what we do?

Romans 14:15 “If your brother is distressed because of what you eat

I believe if we look clearly at this scripture, this was addressing a real issue in that time and place; people were concerned about some foods being unclean, and so some Christian’s actions were causing them to feel uneasy and making them uncertain of what was right and wrong. Today, some people see the music we sing and are uneasy as well, which song is “ok” and which song is not, what style is inappropriate and what style is “awesome”. I remember being “stumbled” because I went to a Urbana in USA one year and everyone was jumping and I felt so uneasy because I didn’t want to jump…my friend ask me why and I said that I couldn’t jump to worship my God….it wasn’t my way of worshipping as for me that would have been to go to a rock concert, not worship. My question I challenge you is this: Just because it’s good for you and you can relate with it, can others relate with it or it causing others to fall?

4. Hebrews 12:28b-29 “….and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”

Reverence. Holiness. These words I see in this forum repeated over and over. It’s LACKING in today’s worship. Today’s worship is not only self-centred (worshipping God for what we like Him to be), but it is also too “Jesus is my friend” focused. He’s our God, and we are to worship Him with reverence. I love the song “I could only imagine” because it reminds me of a sense of mystery and wonder on the day we see the Lord, but I wouldn’t use it for worship; it’s not God, nor is it a song which I think can lead others into worship of our God. It’s a great song, amazing lyrics, but it’s a song I would leave for my own personal time and for listening in the car. As a worship leader, I learnt that some songs might be better for personal reflection rather than for use during corporate worship. For those of you lead worship, are the songs that you are choosing leading others to Christ, is the focus on God, or is it focused on having a “good time”? I challenge all worship leaders, especially, to choose songs that are God-focused (worshiping God for who He is, in His entirety)

I still have much to say, but I probably would end off with a warning, because I realize many people in this forum are like me, probably asking “what’s the big deal”, and wondering why people are making such a big fuss out of all this. I believe people are making a fuss out of this because God is stirring up His people back to the truth. I believe that the very heart of the spiritual war we fight is not in the streets and alleys in our cities, but in the very heart of the church. I believe Satan learnt something that many people have failed to realize: If you want to hurt something the most, strike at its core.

I served the army for two years, and as I served I learnt the importance of the “Headquarters”. Commando units, during war, may be sent to “sabotage” command centers, because by striking the command centers you confuse all the soldiers that await instructions from it. You want to destroy a family, cause division among the parents. You want to mess with a soccer team, distract the coach. You want to confuse Christians, strike at the very heart of it all: the church.

Today’s church we have become so confused and divided over music, and many of you in this forum have expressed SINCERE and HONEST opinions, and I give mine: The church today is practicing “deviant” (i.e. not in line with God’s standards) worship…not all churches, but many are. God’s standards for worship is high, and though we live in New Testament times, Old Testament revelations about God’s standards have not been “removed”. God is the same “Yesterday, today and forevermore”. (Hebrews 13:8). So look at this Old Testament reading and this is where I will end this looooooooooong message:

Please read 1 Kings 12:26-30; I won’t type it here.

This scripture highlights a few things.

Wrong heart; the king did this for the wrong reasons. He wanted to “secure” his position, and essentially distracted them from God.

Are our hearts in the right place? Are we distracting people from God?

What we do, especially leaders, will have an impact on others.

The Bible here says Jeroboam’s deliberate act of trying to teach them to “worship God” in the wrong manner became a sin; today’s leaders may do the same thing. Are we sure the leaders we follow today are biblically grounded? Check, double check, and then check again!!

Inconvenient does not equate to a good excuse.

It might be easy to simply choose songs out of a hymnal, or song book compiled for us by Hillsongs, our church, or any worship team out there. But have we taken the effort, time, and prayed about what kinds of songs we sing in church? Are they truly pleasing to our God?
Sure, be creative, but don’t CREATE.

That’s my final message. Let’s not add to the gospel, or take away from it. Let’s not build “golden calves” in our churches to “spice up” our worship. God has outlined what we need in the Bible, and if we must, then I challenge you to strip away all that’s distracting you or others from worshipping God, even if it means “firing” the worship team for a period of time; Matt Redman’s pastor did exactly that, and the testimony that followed still amazes me today.

I may not understand God that well. After a time of reflection and thoughts flowing in, I believe God planned everything and has a purpose for everything.

My grandfather may have pass on and i really miss him and I'm crying often, I'm happy for him, to be free of the pain he suffers and I would not have to be helpless to see him in pain.

Through the visit to st luke's and feeling the pain from patients. I really glad my grandfather don't have to go through that. So I shall still praise God in the storm.

this is the last of him..

Brother of 2 sisters,
Husband of 1,
Father of 2daughters and 3sons,
Grandfather of 9

Became an Orphan in his teens,

Taken care by his aunty along with his 10cousins,

Started his first job,

Got his first pay and treated his aunty to a famous roast duck stall. (well i only know till here)

Has been a strict father, yet a lovely and caring grandfather.

Memories of my grandfather? well..i guess he hasn't scold me or laid his hand on me.. in the bad way.

Never had arguements with his as well.. He loves having chinese tea. I love listening to his conversation with my mami and po po..I never really played with my cousins..I prefer listening to adults talking. I was trying to pick up some cantonese from their conversation.

Mami always bring me and my brother to his place..during weekends..my mami love to spend time with them..i guess it was good..so she won't have any regrets now that he's gone..

He'll ask me to go pom pom (shower), gai gai (walk walk/ shopping), baby talk..haha..

He's speciality would be soup, porridge and nian gao (sweet cakes chinese eat during new year). I love everything he cook.

Everytime I speak in cantonese I'll be laughed at by my gong gong or my mami.. coz i might have said something wrongly..haha..

He understands chinese and a little of english. But he would call my chinese name.

yup i've said i love holding his hand =] and the way he plays with my hair..
well talking about all these memories makes me want to cry again..

i'm blogging this because i want to remember him..

i miss him..

He died quite peacefully..

a full family photo.....been a long time..

We decorated his coffin with flowers =D

Well i guess he told me he doesn't like flowers before..but..thought dat counts lah gong gong dun be picky..

my grandfather died of Ischaemic heart disease. the symptom is Angina pectoris.

well..it's hard for me not to cry, not to think of my grandfather even though I know he's somewhere safe, somewhere with our creator..

Once i close my eyes I think of him,
I think of how his laughter sound like..
How he calls my chinese name...wan ting..
How he holds my hand and i play with his finger..
How he touch my hair and i touch his tummy and smile..
How I always ask him not to smoke and he smile to me and say it's hard to quit he's 79 already
I'll just argue back and say my father side yeye quit smoking..he's now 90..

I cried till I was tired to think of gong gong..
3am..I slept.

If I could have 1min with him I'll hug him and tell him I love having him as my grandfather..I haven't done that before.

and I'll hold his hand and still ask him to stop smoking.

from sunday every night we leave the casket I'll say byebye gong gong..last night i warn him not to smoke..

haha coz my uncle told me they left him his cigarette, his lighter and his reading glasses on his pocket..he's holding on to a bible oso..
